Winter, rain, puddles, and boots...

Does that remind you of something?

Well, winter has already arrived, bringing with it-

Images of inspiration, images of a legend,

and images filled with atmosphere!

I sent the first part of the post in our group's newsletter

and asked: "Where do you think the photo was taken?"

ree

I received hundreds of amazing emails and comments.

I'm glad to hear that you all loved the photos.

You asked questions and made guesses...

Some of you insisted it was definitely taken in Europe,

others pinpointed it more towards Paris,

and there were those who claimed it was actually captured on the streets of New York.

So, it's time to reveal the reality...

I've never taken pictures in Europe,

and I haven't been to New York either.

But to create a European atmosphere (from scratch for you),

you don't need to travel to another continent.

What you do need is a camera, a tripod, and a small suitcase.

Just take a half-minute walk down to the neighborhood park...

Park?? Yes!

I never photograph in parks!

I stay away from them like fire...

By now, you probably know me and my photos.

I'm a devoted nature lover (though I don't raise bears in my yard,

and I don't contribute to the local zoo, but I am connected to nature even without them).

But this time, I decided to go for a concept in the style of Parisian scenes.

All I had to do was find a path

where on one side, there wouldn't be buildings in a different architectural style,

and for the rest—let me deal with my dear friend Photoshop (;

Wait, but how did you photograph in the rain?

So, for those who asked—don't worry, I won't take a risk

neither to my child nor to my dear camera equipment.

We shot in the sun, maybe on the hottest day of summer,

but with a bit of Photoshop work and a lot of imagination,

we can bring the ambiance of the Tempel neighborhood in Paris to us...

So here are a few stages from the editing of my photo to the enchanting winter result...

The path is mainly for pedestrians,

so we barely managed to capture photos without people in the background.

This is the original photo

So, in the first stage, I cleaned up the background from unwanted distractions.

I didn't focus too much on a natural and realistic look,

since later on, I add more layers anyway...

(By the way, I debated whether to leave the figures in the background to add to the atmosphere,

but they didn't fit the styling and didn't look European, so I preferred to remove them...)

Also, the composition of the photo is flattering,

so a slight rotation and onwards

ree

The second step was professionally adding a bokeh to the background,

including a segment of the sky in the photo,

and also searching for a European element like the ivy that I added…

ree

The third step required enhancing the photo,

and adding a mythical and enchanting appearance...

ree

In the fourth stage, I turned on the street lights,

paved the floor in a European style, added a puddle for atmosphere,

and dampened the pavement...

The fifth and final stage was touching up the final details in the photo

and adding rain for a cool and wet look…

So, I hope I didn't make all of you

wrap yourselves in a fur coat and put on a woolen hat,

but maybe if I did, it just means I succeeded

in getting you into a good mood

and also adjusting to the weather (;

So, I hope you liked it

and I'm sure you enjoyed it!
